This is the sixth in the original Bond series, and the first to be adapted for the big screen starring Sean Connery. I had been looking forward to reading this ever since I started the series since it has always been one of my favorite movies. I fondly recall the scene where Bond is reluctantly forced to relinquish his Beretta .25 in favor of the more effective and iconic Walther PPK". This is straight out of the book, but the reason for it was not part of the film, since it had to do with the events in the previous novel "From Russia With Love". Although racism continues to be an prevalent, I can accept it as part of the Old Empire mentality. For me, it adds to the historic nature of these books rather than detract from them. As far the sexism, well... we're talking about James Bond after all.
