This book was a NY Times #1 best seller, and I can understand why. It's a fast-paced crime drama with a strong (if judgmental) protagonist and despicable villains. The author did a nice job of weaving together two parallel story lines, one of which began decades earlier and was very personal to the main character. I guess it's just not my style. I anticipated the plot twists, and grew detached, or maybe uneasy, with some of the more graphic crime violence.
