Douglas Adams is the indisputable king of comedy sci-fi. Imagine a cross between Monty Python and Doctor Who, and you'll get an inkling of the author's wacky, far-out sense of humour. Originally developed as a BBC radio production which first aired in 1978, later released in novel form and and as BBC TV series. Adams made efforts to adapt the story to the big screen which eventually came to fruition in 2005 after his death.
